Carrie Lewandowski, RN

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” - Albert Einstein

Carrie Lewandowski, a native of Syracuse, NY, is a registered nurse with almost 20 years of experience in the human medical field. When she was growing up, her dream had always been to become a veterinarian, but she had unfortunately been discouraged away from the profession. Several years later, Carrie has found her way into the veterinary profession after all and is rocking her role as a veterinary assistant in our team. When asked why she chose The Animal Doctors, Carrie said that she was impressed with the kindness that her family received when they had to bring their puppy (Pearl) to our office on emergency when she broke her front leg.

Being a registered nurse, Carrie brings a lot of medical knowledge and unique expertise to our team and provides a breath of fresh air when thinking about protocols and why we actually do the things the way that we do. With Carrie’s help, we have gained insight as to how things are very similar and very different between the human and veterinary profession. Carrie is naturally calm and gentle around the animals, and she has a keen interest in surgery. She is a true team player and is always ready to jump in and help anyone should they need it.

When she’s not at the clinic, she may be found working as a nurse educator, medical records coder, or revenue cycle reviewer. When she’s not doing those things, Carrie is usually found spending time with her French Bulldog, Pearl, who is cute as a button! A fun fact about Carrie is that she loves organizing things; however, sometimes her organization results in her husband’s inability to find anything!

If you could leave one piece of information for every pet parent, what would it be?

Pets will get hurt accidentally like children and you cannot always blame yourself, but be prepared as it can get expensive.
